ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) ? St. Louis police are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery at a White Castle early Tuesday morning. It?s the second time a White Castle in the city has been hit in less than two weeks.
At this point, police say there are no indications the two crimes are related, but both scenes were very frightening.
In the latest case Tuesday morning, police say a man came in with a shotgun and made off with cash around 12:25am Tuesday at a White Castle at North Kingshighway and Natural Bridge in north St. Louis.
Police say the restaurant was open at the time, but it?s unclear if any customers were inside when the crime happened.
Investigators say a police canine tracked the suspect?s scent to a nearby alley after he ran away following the crime, but the canine then lost the scent. There is some thought the suspect might have gotten into a getaway car at that point.
Police say there is a surveillance camera in the White Castle.
The only suspect description that police are giving out is that he is a black man wearing a tan jacket and blue jeans.
The first White Castle robbery happened in south St. Louis in the early morning hours back on November 7. In that case, police say two suspects armed with a handgun robbed the White Castle at South Kingshighway and Devonshire. They got away as well.
The only description police gave of those suspects is they were two black men with dark jackets wearing medical gloves.
Nobody was hurt in either case.
