The first Cloud computing Excellence Award went to Virtela, aDenverbased company that offers a wide range of cloud computing services for today?s hot cloud computing world. Some day, it seems, we?ll all have fast computers without memory because everything will be accessible in the cloud. But for every cloud computing aficionado there is an equal and opposite detractor with other ideas. This is where SparkWeave, comes in. They want to be known as the anti-cloud computing or private cloud company. The CEO of SparkWeave believes that the cloud computing industry has oversold itself, and that?s the least of the issues. Can you trust cloud computing? Is it better for a corporation to store its most sensitive data on its own computers or somewhere out there on the Internet? SparkWeave doesn?t think so.

Instead, SparkWeave is banking on the idea that big and small corporations alike will skip the cloud-based offerings of Amazon, Google and Microsoft, among others, and opt for the private cloud. SparkWeave?s private cloud would simplify storage by reducing such things as duplicate files in a company?s computer network. As a result, it would be more cost effective, especially for larger corporations. Data will be more secure because it won?t leave the company?s servers and there would be electronic methods of monitoring access to the information. In addition to extra security for medical, financial and secret government information, SparkWeave users know exactly where their data is stored. Additionally, cloud computing is said to be only economical for companies that need computing during 20 percent of their working time.
